A kitesurf lesson takes place with a basic wind of at least 12 knots and up to a maximum of 28 knots. The wind direction varies per location, but it must be onshore. Additionally, there should be no extreme gusts or thunderstorms predicted. Are you having a kitesurfing lesson at sea? Then the tide and waves are also important factors.

We offer kitesurfing lessons seven days a week, so you can start your kitesurfing course any day. From mid-May to mid-September, we offer lessons three times a day. During the other months, we do not offer evening lessons as it gets dark too early. The lesson times are as follow:
Every day between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, we check the latest weather forecast, and you will receive a text message and an email letting you know if the lesson is approved or canceled. We make this decision based on wind speed, wind direction, and other weather conditions that affect safety. Of course, we want nothing more than for all lessons to go ahead! If we do have to cancel a lesson, we will include the reason in the email. You can then reschedule your lesson directly through your account.
We also advise bringing surf shoes to protect your feet from sharp shells. We'll take care of the rest! Wetsuit, harness, helmet and lycra are all included in the price. You can purchase surf shoes in our store or order them online. Of course, it's also fine to bring your own wetsuit and harness to the kitesurfing lesson.
Make sure to arrive on time for the kitesurfing lesson. This is especially important if you have a group lesson in Kijkduin. If your lesson starts at 9:00 AM, we recommend being there 15 minutes beforehand.
At the location in Kijkduin, we have a kitesurf bus with all the necessary kitesurfing equipment. The kite bus is located at the very back of the parking lot in Kijkduin. It’s a white Volkswagen bus with black stickers of Kitesurfschool.nl on it."
At our location in Scheveningen, you can check in at the beach bar Down Under Beach, which is located at the very end of the parking lot at Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen.
In the footer of the website, you'll find a 'navigate to' menu with a Google Maps link for the exact location.
If we cancel your lesson due to wind and/or weather conditions, the lesson will be immediately credited back to your account. You can then log in and reschedule the lesson through your personal portal, 'my bookings,' on our website.
You can book a lesson with us from the age of 12. For children, we recommend booking a private lesson or having them join with a friend of the same age. This way, we keep the kitesurfing lessons fun, educational, and safe for everyone. Due to the significant weight difference, we often cannot place children in a standard group lesson. Children also require different attention and explanations than adults. Our experience shows that children find private lessons much more enjoyable than group lessons and are also more likely to continue with kitesurfing.
"We always make our decision based on the website www.windguru.com. You can see the wind forecast on this website. Go to windguru.com, then select a spot from the top left corner and click on it. You’ll see a table with all the information. Make sure you learn to read this information yourself, including wind speed, gusts, wind direction, temperature, cloud cover, precipitation, and how it changes throughout the day. This will help you be well-prepared for your kitesurfing lesson!"
Lessons will be approved with a minimum wind speed of 12 knots and a maximum wind speed of 28 knots. Of course, wind direction is also important, and we also consider the overall weather conditions, such as rain, gusts, and whether thunderstorms are forecasted.
Your kitesurfing lesson will proceed with an onshore wind direction. This is when the wind is most stable and ensures a safe lesson. The wind must always blow toward the land and not away from it. So, even if there is wind on a given day, your lesson may still be canceled due to the wind direction.
If the wind and temperature are good, a lesson can certainly continue in the rain. You'll get wet anyway, and you're wearing a wetsuit. Prefer to reschedule for a day without rain? No problem! Just give us a call, and we'll help you rearrange the lesson!
If you have booked one or more kitesurfing lessons, you can schedule them yourself directly through your account. Once you are logged in, you will find a calendar showing the available days. You can schedule your kitesurfing lessons from April to October. We recommend scheduling all your lessons at once, without too much time in between. Don't see a spot available on your preferred day? Give us a call — we might be able to find an instructor and fit you in.
During the weekdays, we have the most instructors available, and the kitesurfing spots are quieter. From Monday to Friday, daytime offers the best times of the week. The weekends can be much busier. If you still want to kitesurf on the weekend, make sure to schedule it in advance. During the high season, we recommend booking at least two weeks ahead.
It’s possible that all groups and instructors are fully booked, and there’s no availability. If you can't book on your preferred day and want to know if an instructor becomes available, send us a WhatsApp message at +31634065661. Include your name, the date, and the time you wish to book. We’ll put you on the reserve list. Through the app, we can stay in contact with you and keep you updated.
If you're coming from far away and have more than an hour of travel time, we understand that you'd like to know earlier if the lesson will go ahead. In this case, make sure to contact us at least 24 hours in advance. We can then check the forecast and let you know whether the wind conditions will be good. It's also a good idea to check the wind forecast yourself before leaving via www.windguru.com. If you're unsure, just give us a call!
Your kitesurfing course is valid for two years. If you’re unable to complete the course within that time, we will extend the validity of your lessons for another two years, and will continue to do so until you finish all your lessons.
We recommend everyone wear surf shoes during the lesson, as sharp shells are often found on the beach or in the water. If you get a deep cut on your foot, you may need to end the lesson early. If you really can't arrange shoes in time for your first lesson, we still suggest bringing sports shoes or something similar that can get wet. Surf shoes can also be purchased at the location for around €45.

Absolutely. Instructors often enjoy keeping track of the progress of someone they have taught before. You need to schedule all your lessons through the portal first, and then you can send us a WhatsApp message with your name, the date of your booking, and the instructor you'd like to be assigned to. We'll take care of that for you behind the scenes.

"Yes! You can reach us at phone numbers 0031 (0)6-34065661 or 0031 (0)70-3584800. If we don't answer, we always try to return missed calls. Sometimes, during the high season, we receive so many calls that it can get a bit busy, so we ask you to send a WhatsApp message with a request for a callback. We will definitely call you back!"
The answer is no. Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with the contact details of the kitesurfing instructor. If they took photos of you while kitesurfing and you would like to have them, you need to exchange contact information with the instructor after the lesson. There's no need to call us for this
